In 2008, on his 60th birthday, Prince Charles of England announced plans to change one of the titles of the British monarch from “defender of the faith” to “defender of faith.” Ever since Henry VIII, the throne has defended the Christian faith, whether Catholic or Church of England. Charles thinks that is too exclusive, and wants to defend all faiths, including that of jihadists who want to conquer Europe.
